South-east Queensland is braced for another drenching.

The Bureau of Meteorology has issued a severe weather warning for the region, saying there is a possibility of flash-flooding later on Sunday.

Gale force winds of about 90km per hour were being recorded on Sunday morning.

More than 260mm fell in the 24 hours to 9am (AEST) on Saturday, causing landslips, flash flooding and closed roads around Noosa on the Sunshine Coast.

The bureau says a surface trough is expected to move inland bringing more heavy rain later on Sunday.

The ABC reports numerous roads are closed across southern Queensland.

The State Emergency Service advises residents to stay indoors.

Meanwhile, SEQ Water has opened one of the floodgates at the dam which provides Brisbane's water supplies.

The ABC reports levels at the Wivenhoe dam fell below 16% three years ago, but reached capacity at the start of the week.
