International Cricket Council officials say Pakistan is unlikely to host international cricket in the immediate future after an attack on the Sri Lankan cricket team in Lahore.

The 2011 World Cup is due to be co-hosted by Pakistan, India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh.

The Sri Lankan cricket team was ambushed in Lahore on Tuesday. Six Sri Lankan players and two officials were wounded.

Six Pakistani policemen and a bus driver were killed.

ICC president David Morgan says the whole landscape for international cricket has changed.

Chief executive Haroon Lorgat says a decision will be made at the next board meeting in April.

He told a news conference at Lord's in London that it would be "very challenging" for the ICC to be convinced that Pakistan would be a safe venue.
