Foreign minister Hoshyar Zebari of Iraq has urged the United States to take a more active role in breaking the deadlock over the formation of a new Iraqi government.
Mr Zebari says a political stalemate since elections on 7 March has had a very negative affect on all aspects of life in Iraq.
He says that a change in US policy could make a difference.
