Four people are dead after an explosion at a house and a gun attack by a woman in a hospital in the southern German town of Loerrach, police say.
A spokesman for local police said the suspected killer was shot and killed in an exchange of gunfire with officers.
Shots were first heard after an explosion in an apartment block in the centre of the town.
Shortly afterwards, a woman armed with a gun ran out of the house.
Local media report the woman entered the nearby St. Elisabethen hospital and fired off several rounds.
Police said two people were killed inside the hospital and that the bodies of a woman and a girl were found in the house.
A police officer was also seriously wounded, they said.
