Police in Holland arrested a US pilot in his cockpit for having alcohol in his system just before he was to take-off in an airliner with 200 passengers.

Police say he was in the cockpit of a plane from a foreign airline at Schiphol airport at Amsterdam.

Acting on an anonymous tip, they found the captain had consumed too much alcohol.

Pilots are not allowed to drink any alcohol within 10 hours before a flight.

A statement issued on Tuesday said the pilot was fined 700 euros and the flight was delayed.
