Gunman kills seven, wounds 14 in Slovakia

A gunman in Slovakia has killed seven people, six of them from the same family, before turning the weapon on himself.

The incident happened in the capital, Bratislava.

Slovak media say the family were Roma (gypsy) and the gunman was a neighbour in their block of flats.

Fourteen other people were wounded in the incident.

The BBC reports the gunman shot himself dead after being surrounded by police.

Officials said he had been armed with an automatic assault rifle and two handguns.

The attacker has not been named.
