Snowy Mountains road block traffic jams not wanted

Ski resorts in New South Wales want the State Government do something about traffic jams in the Snowy Mountains.

Traffic delays of up to two hours were caused Saturday by a police road block testing drivers for drugs and alcohol at a major intersection at Barry Way in Jindabyne.

Perisher Resort spokesman Gary Grant says alpine resorts support the police operations, but they need to be moved elsewhere.

He told the ABC that setting up a road block at a point where four lanes effectively merge into one "causes everything to stop."

"There are better locations that can be chosen," he said.
