Trouble continues in Karachi

8:27 am on 5 August 2010

Sporadic violence is reported to be continuing in the southern Pakistani city of Karachi, as security forces try to re-establish control of the city after two days of bloodshed.

More than 60 people have now died.

The trouble started on Monday when Raza Haider, a politician with the MQM party, was shot dead.

MQM leaders initially blamed a rival political party, the ANP, but now say Sunni extremists may have carried out the killing.
