UNESCO has removed the Galapagos Islands from its list of endangered world heritage sites.
The United Nations cultural organisation says significant progress has been made in addressing threats posed by invasive species, tourism and over-fishing, which prompted the Galapagos Islands to be placed on the list three years ago.
The International Union for the Conservation of Nature says the move is premature.
