More heavy rain expected in China

China is bracing for more heavy rain as it struggles to clean-up from the worst floods in decades.

Tropical Storm Chantu is now heading for southern China.

Already this year, torrential rain and flooding have left at least 700 people dead and more than 300 missing.

Xinhua news agency reports 41 people were killed in central China this week and economic losses due to flooding amount to nearly $US20 billion.

CNN reports a million troops are involved in the clean-up.
