NATO officials in Afghanistan say two British and two American soldiers have died in Taliban-style bomb attacks.

They say the the four deaths occurred in three separate attacks with improvised explosive devices - the single biggest killer in the war - now nearly nine years old.

Casualty figures for international troops in Afghanistan have spiked in the past two months, with 102 in June, the highest monthly toll since the war began soon after a US-led invasion toppled the Taliban regime in late 2001, the ABC reports.

A total of 375 foreign soldiers have lost their lives in conflict in Afghanistan since the start of this year, according to a tally by independent website www.icasualties.org.
