Cocaine seizure in Gambia

Cocaine valued at $US1 billion has been seized in the west African state of Gambia.

About 2.5 tonnes of cocaine were discovered in a warehouse, near the capital, Banjul.

The BBC reports West Africa has become a major transit hub for trafficking Latin American drugs to markets in Europe.
