Australia scored a last-minute goal to beat the All Whites 2-1 in a FIFA World Cup warm-up match in Melbourne on Monday night.

The All Whites led 0-1 at half time, following a 16th minute goal from striker Chris Killen.

But Dario Vidosic equalised early in the second half and then Brett Holman scored the winner for the Socceroos four minutes into injury time.

Afterwards, Australian coach Pim Verbeek said his team did not deserve to win.

The match was played at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. It was the first of four warmup matches for New Zealand before the World Cup begins in South Africa on 11 June.

New Zealand and Australia had not previously played each for five years.

The All Whites are ranked 78th in the world, 58 places behind Australia.
