Sleep-in for Watson on first day

8:37 am on 17 May 2010

Teen sailor Jessica Watson slept in on Sunday - her first morning back on dry land after a solo seven-month voyage around the world.

Manager Andrew Fraser said she then had a relaxing day with family and close friends at a Manly hotel on Sydney's northern beaches.

The ABC reports Watson, 16, is writing a book, preparing a documentary and preparing for a series of public engagements.

She returned to Sydney on Saturday after 210 days at sea on her 10-metre yacht Ella's Pink Lady.

She disembarked at the Opera House, had an emotional reunion with her parents, and met a official welcome party including Prime Minister kevin Rudd and NSW Premier Kristina Keneally.

Mr Rudd told Watson she had done the nation proud.

Watson will turn 17 on Tuesday. She is the youngest person to sail around the world, solo, non-stop and unassisted.
