Thailand's prime minister has released his plans for peace and stability, including new elections in November.
Abhisit Vejjajiva has reduced his timetable for elections from nine months to less than six. First, however, he says five major problems need to be addressed.
They are respect for the monarchy (which is revered in Thailand); better social equity; impartial media; an independent investigation into the political crisis and related violence; and a debate on the need for a new constitution.
Early indications are that the leaders of anti-government protesters will consider the plan and give an answer soon.
