35 killed in Baghdad bombings

8:35 am on 7 April 2010

At least 35 people have been killed in a number of explosions in the Iraqi capital, Baghdad.

More than 130 people are reported to have been wounded. Seven buildings were destroyed.

The attacks took place in mainly Shia areas of the capital.

Suicide bombers killed at least 41 people near foreign embassies in the capital two days earlier.

The BBC reports the bombings ended a period of relative calm following last month's parliamentary elections.
