A television station in Georgia has apologised for causing panic with a fake news report about a Russian invasion.
The broadcast frightened many people who were reminded of the brief war between Russia and Georgia in 2008.
Imedi TV showed archive footage of the war and imagined how opposition figures might seize power after an assassination of the country's president.
Although the broadcast was introduced as a simulation of possible events, many Georgians panicked, the BBC reports.
Mobile phone networks were overwhelmed with calls and people rushed onto the streets.
The television station has apologised. However, dozens of people gathered outside the Imedi
studios to protest.
