Kremlin wants resignations over poor Olympic medal haul

Russian president Dmitry Medvedev has called on his country's Olympic officials to resign over Russia's poor showing at the Winter Games.

In televised comments, he said those responsible should take a brave decision and sign a letter of resignation. "If they can't we will help them," he added.

Russia won three gold medals and finished 11th in the medals table at the Vancouver Games.

At the Turin games in 2006, Russia was in the top five, with 22 medals, including eight golds,
