Bill Cosby quits US university role

Comedian Bill Cosby has resigned his position on the board of trustees of an American university in the wake of renewed sexual assault allegations.

About 20 women have now accused the 77-year-old Emmy and Golden Globe winner of sexual assault or rape, most from decades ago.

The board of Temple University in Philadelphia said it had thanked Cosby for his service and accepted the resignation.

Among the women to have accused the actor is is Andrea Constand, a former director of operations for the Temple women's basketball team.
