An Australian bride is in hospital and the groom and best man are being held by police following an alcohol-fuelled brawl at a wedding reception today.
Hobart ambulance officers were called to a reception venue in South Hobart shortly after midnight (local time) when the bride became unwell, the ABC reported.
They called police and said they needed backup because of the number of drunk and rowdy people there.
Police said when they turned up, some of the wedding party became aggressive and threw punches.
Six police cars were needed.
Paramedics treated the bride for alcohol poisoning and took her to the Royal Hobart Hospital for further treatment, where she remained.
The groom and the best man were in police custody sobering up and faced possible charges.
The maid of honour was also spoken to, police said.
