UK considers lowering cap on European migrants - report

Britain is considering capping the number of European Union migrants entering the country at 75,000 people a year, The Sunday Times newspaper says, citing a leaked government report.

The paper says a leaked Home Office document suggests net migration from the EU could be cut by 30,000 annually from the current 106,000.

The document suggests high-skilled migrants from countries such as Germany and the Netherlands could move to Britain only with a firm job offer.

Low-skilled workers could move only if they have jobs on a national shortage job list.
