North Korea has repatriated six South Korean citizens and a corpse in a rare humanitarian gesture amid persistent tensions between Pyongyang and Seoul.
The six crossed from North to South at a jointly controlled "truce village" which straddles both sides of the Korean Demilitarised Zone, Reuters reports.
North Korean state media says the group entered North Korea illegally and were released on humanitarian grounds after they admitted to and repented on their crimes.
It is reported the body being returned is that of the wife of one of those going back.
Tensions between North and South Korea soared earlier this year as the North reacted angrily to tightened United Nations sanctions imposed in response to its latest nuclear test. They later eased for several months.
