The interim government in Egypt has extended a state of emergency by two months.

The country is still in political turmoil after the Army overthrew President Mohamed Mursi on 3 July. Attacks against security forces in the Sinai peninsula have also increased.

The Muslim Brotherhood is accused of inciting the trouble.

A state of emergency was announced on 14 August and Thursday's announcement extended the order to mid-November. The announcement covers the whole country.

Egypt was previously under a state of emergency for more than three decades until President Hosni Mubarak was forced from power two years ago.
