North Korean anger over ski lift block

North Korea has reacted angrily to a decision by Switzerland to block a deal to sell ski lifts to the secretive communist country.

The equipment was to have been for the Masik ski resort project currently under construction.

However, the Swiss Government says the equipment constitutes luxury goods and is therefore subject to United Nations sanctions, the BBC reports.

North Korean leader Kim Jong-un has repeatedly visited the Masik site and promoted it as an attempt to enhance the lifestyle of the nation's citizens.

North Korea's Skiers Association said in a statement carried by KCNA news agency that countries should not prohibit Pyongyang from buying equipment which does not produce any rocket or nuclear weapon.
