Queensland Plan summit

12:51 pm on 10 May 2013

State MPs in Queensland and more than 400 of their constituents will meeting in Mackay on Friday for a summit meeting on the Queensland Plan, to help set an agenda for the state for the next 30 years.

Nearly all of Queensland's 89 MPs are bringing three constituents to brainstorm their vision for the state.

AAP reports no discussion points have been set for the event, which is more about developing questions than answers.

Premier Campbell Newman said the meeting will start with a blank slate and he'll be leaving politics aside.

"This is a plan by the people of Queensland, for the people of Queensland. It's not something we've cooked up," he said.

AAP reports the ideas that come out of the summit will be fine-tuned by MPs at workshops in their electorates.

A second summit will be held in Brisbane in October and the final plan will be released by the end of the year.
