Nauru police have charged 15 asylum seekers with rioting and wilful damage.

The 15, all Iranians, have been charged after incidents on 30 September at the camp, which houses about 400 asylum seekers sent to the island by Australia.

They are due to appear in court on Monday to answer the charges.

Nauru's government says damage worth $24,000 was caused to the detention camp.
