Explosions target Syria military camp

2:35 pm on 11 November 2012

Opposition activists in Syria say two car bomb attacks have killed at least 20 government soldiers in the southern city of Deraa.

The UK-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said two cars packed with explosives were detonated at a military camp, killing and wounding "dozens".

Syrian state media said the two car bombs resulted in "victims and material damage", but did not give details.

No group has claimed responsibility for the explosions, but car bombs targeting the military have been a regular tactic of rebel groups fighting President Bashar al-Assad's army, the BBC reports.
