The Centres for Disease Control in the United States say a 15th person has died from an outbreak of fungal meningitis that has been linked to steroid injections.

CDC says the latest death occurred in Indiana, the second death in the state.

A company in Massachusetts has recalled batches of steroid sent to more than 70 clinics in 23 states.

It was generally prescribed for back pain.

CDC says fungal meningitis is not contagious.

The drug was recalled on 26 September.
