A judge has ruled that Pitcairn Islands Mayor Mike Warren must stand trial on charges of possessing child pornography.
Mr Warren had challenged the charges against him, including a decision to hold the trial in New Zealand.
But Pitcairn Islands Supreme Court Judge Jane Lovell-Smith said there are practical benefits in holding the trial in New Zealand, as all the judges and lawyers are based there.
She also rejected other challenges to the charges, including that the evidence was obtained under illegal search warrants.
Justice Lovell-Smith remanded the mayor on bail to stand trial in Auckland next February.
He faces 20 charges of possessing child pornography and five charges of possessing indecent material.
