Weather looking up for Olympics

10:24 am on 18 July 2012

Olympic Games organisers in London are relieved that forecasters are finaly predicting a significant improvement in the weather.

Britain is expected to be drier and warmer next week, but only after more rain arrives.

April and June were the wettest since 1910.

Forecasters say the cause is the unusually southerly location of the jet stream, a high-altitude belt of wind, which brings cooler temperartures, and winter-like rain.

The jet stream is expected to move northwards soon, bringing more normal summer weather.

The Games begin on 27 July.
