Diego Maradona has been sacked as coach of the Al Wasl club in United Arab Emirates.
Maradona, 51, who was on a two year contract since May 2011, was dismissed following a meeting of the club's board.
Al Wasl failed to win any trophies under Maradona during his tenure, slipping to eighth in the 12 team UAE Pro League from sixth the previous season, Reuters reports.
They also lost in the final of the Gulf Champions League and enjoyed little success in domestic competitions.
