A large pink diamond has sold at auction in Hong Kong for $US17.4 million after six minutes of frenzied bidding.
It was expected to fetch $US8 million.
The 12-carat, round stone, the biggest of its kind ever to be sold, was bought by an anonymous telephone bidder.
