5:34 pm on 21 April 2012

All 127 people on board a passenger plane that crashed in Pakistan have been killed.

The plane crashed in bad weather about 9km from Islamabad international airport.

Television channels say the Bhoja Airlines plane was travelling from Karachi to Islamabad and was attempting to land in a thunderstorm.

State television reports that all hospitals in Islamabad and the nearby city of Rawalpindi were put on high alert afterwards.

The last major aviation accident in Pakistan was in July 2010, when a commercial airliner with 152 people on board crashed into the hills overlooking Islamabad.
