News agency banned by Iran

The ministry of culture in Iran has banned the Reuters news agency from working in Iran because of a report about a group of female athletes.

The women were learning the martial art of ninjutsu and were described as ninjas.

But in a video report, Reuters referred to them as "Iran's assassins". The headline was quickly corrected.

Some of the women have reportedly threatened to sue Reuters for libel.

State news agency Irna reported on Monday that the news agency's permit to operate in Iran had been indefinitely suspended.
