Twelve people have survived a passenger plane crash in Siberia that killed 31 others.

The plane, an ATR 72, had just taken off from Tyumen on Monday on a flight to the oil town of Surgut when it crashed and burst into flames.

Thirteen people were pulled from the wreckage alive, but one later died.

Hospital officials say all those who survived are in intensive care.

The plane belonged to the UTair domestic airline.
