Chair of Waikato-Tainui's executive Tukoroirangi Morgan says he's working on a Treaty claim to ensure its interest in Auckland is acknowledged.
Mr Morgan was an iwi co-negotiator for the Waikato River Treaty of Waitangi claim signed by the Crown and Tainui in 2008.
He says his people have ties to the Supercity region and want to ensure that their interest in places such as Manukau, Kawhia and Raglan is recognised.
Mr Morgan is also driving the idea of setting up a pan-tribal share-buying consortium in anticipation of state-owned asset sales.
