Statistics New Zealand estimates show the Maori population stood at 663,900 in 2010, an increase of 10,800 on 2009.
The figures, compiled annually by Statistics New Zealand using data on births and deaths, also reveal there are now 337,700 Maori females and 326, 200 Maori males.
