The lead agency for Whānau Ora in Whangārei says the new Māori social service system is shaping up well in the north.
One of the founders of the thirty-year-old Ōtangarei Trust, Janine Kaipō, says Whānau Ora has linked government and non-government organisations in a way they've never enjoyed in the past.
Ms Kaipō says under the new relationship, the providers don't feel alone anymore.
The Whangārei Whanau Ora collective, Te Hau o Whiowhio, includes Ōtangarei Trust, One Double Five Community Trust, child health agency Jigsaw, Ringa Atawhai and the local TV station Channel North.
