Maori businesses are returning to a golden era, the ANZ Bank says.
ANZ has released a survey of 172 operators, in which about two-thirds said their futures looked bright.
The research was done in conjunction with four business organisations, including Maori Tourism.
Most businesses surveyed were in the agriculture, forestry, fishing, tourism and hospitality sectors.
ANZ senior executive Graham Turley said more than a third of its respondents wanted to sell their goods and produce offshore.
A lot of Maori businesses were in the primary production marketplace, he said, and they were thinking of the deals they could strike in Asia while being strong contributors to the New Zealand economy.
Mr Turley said that as the New Zealand economy gathered momentum, Maori were keenly aware of increasing foreign interest in Aotearoa and were well-placed to take advantage of business opportunities.
The combined annual turnover of the businesses surveyed was close to $1 billion.
