Maori health providers encouraged to strive for top standard

A Maori health provider that's achieved a top health care standard in general practice is encouraging other centres like itself to strive for the same accreditation.

Korowai Aroha Health centre has been registered by the Royal New Zealand College for obtaining the Cornerstone accreditation.

It recognises providers who maintain high quality standards of care in all areas including in GP service delivery and facility maintenance.

Rose Whetu-Boldarin, a manager at Korowai Aroha, who ensures its services meet a quality standard, suspects other Maori health providers can also obtain the standard. She says the standard gives Maori providers credibility.
