Some Maori suffering months after injury - study

3:15 pm on 2 August 2013

A University of Otago study shows many Maori continue to suffer three months after sustaining an injury - and some even show signs of disability.

The study looks at a group of 566 Maori people who are entitled to ACC and covers a wide range of injuries including sprains, a broken arm or leg and open wounds.

The results show half of the group had trouble walking after three months, while just over two-thirds felt discomfort, and nearly half experienced disability over the same period.
