Te Arawa members are due to hear how a tribal parliament should be run.
Groups in Bay of Plenty are looking at establishing a super structure which would unite descendants and build on achievements by iwi organisations involved in areas such as business and fisheries.
Te Arawa Lakes Trust chairperson Toby Curtis said a tribal hui is due to be held next week.
At the hui, the people will be told about progress on the super iwi structure.
Plans include having each marae being represented by three people.
Mr Curtis said they will be an elder, someone who knows economic matters, as well as a rangatahi or a youth representative.
He said if the people agree to the proposal, the super iwi structure could start operating by May.
