Further support for education analysis

Another senior figure has come out in support of the Ministry of Education's chief executive Lesley Longstone, who said last week that New Zealand does not have a world class education system because Maori and Pasifika students are underperforming.

Race Relations Commissioner Joris de Bres says Mrs Longstone was right to criticise the education system.

He believes justice and health are two other public services that fail Maori and Pacific Islanders.

Mr de Bres says the Human Rights Commission issued a report in August stating that Maori and Pacific Islanders in particular weren't getting the most out of some Government agencies.
