Business leaders to address Maori accountants' conference

The National Maori Accountants Network - Nga Kaitatau o Aotearoa says it's pleased to have such a high calibre of Maori business leaders at their annual conference this year.

The hui which takes place in Auckland at the beginning of next monthwill talk about boosting New Zealand and Maori business and will have a theme of wealth creation through innovation and leadership.

Dean Witehira from Rotorua-based Timberlands will talk about forest investment and innovation for Maori, with a focus on China's demand for wood.

Ngati Whatua o Orakei Maori Trust Board chairman, Grant Hawke, will discuss overcoming obstacles and building towards the iwi's future.

And Ngapuhi Asset Company chairman, Sir John Goulter, will outline mainstream concepts he has used in Maori organisations - and what Maori leadership concepts could be used in a mainstream business.

The National Maori Accountants' Network was created in 2004 and was set up to help Maori excel in commerce and to contribute to the successful economic development of Maori.
