Maori health and GP organisations join forces

The National Hauora Coalition, a Maori led and owned primary health organisation, has joined forces with Peak Primary Limited which has a network of general practices all over the North Island.

Coalition chief executive Simon Royal says it's a significant move for both organisations and means they can provide primary health care and Whanau Ora services to more than 300,000 families.

He says the intention is to build its strategy for the delivery of Whanau Ora throughout New Zealand so it's available to all families, but with a particular focus on Maori and Pacific Island communities and others where there are high health needs.

Mr Royal says both the National Hauora Coalition and Peak Primary have a common vision of wanting to build a healthier and more compassionate New Zealand.
