The Waitangi Tribunal will on Monday be told the Crown should return thousands of hectares of East Coast land to a Maori authority.
Mangatu Blocks Incorporation wants ownership again of 3490 hectares of erosion-prone whenua.
It was bought by the Crown in 1961, and in 2004 the Tribunal ruled the sale was forced, breaching principles of the Treaty.
The hearing is being held all this week at Te Poho o Noho Marae in Gisborne.
Mangatu Blocks Incorporation is asking for the Waitangi Tribunal to make a binding decision on what should happen to the land.
