Chisora faces life ban from boxing after making shooting threat

The heavyweight boxer Dereck Chisora could be banned for life after his media conference brawl with bitter British rival David Haye, the British Boxing Board of Control general secretary Robert Smith says.

Chisora has returned to the United Kingdom from Germany following his altercation with Haye, who he threatened to shoot.

Chisora, who'd been beaten by defending champion Vitali Klitschko for the WBC heavyweight title in Munich, was detained by German police as he was preparing to board a plane but later released.

German police have yet to speak to Haye, who doesn't have a current boxing licence, having officially retired in October, so the sport's governing body is unlikely to be able to sanction him.

Smith says Chisora will now have to appear at a disciplinary hearing.
