Australia pound India to take Tri-series lead

6:03 am on 20 February 2012

The Australian cricketers have rocketed to the top of the Tri-series standings with a 110-run pounding of India at the Gabba in Brisbane.

Pace bowler Ben Hilfenhaus, playing his first one day international for two years as the replacement for an ill Clint McKay, took a career best 5 for 33 as India were bundled out for 178, in reply to Australia's 288 for 5.

But both sides face growing worries about their veteran greats Ricky Ponting and Sachin Tendulkar who were dismissed for 7 and 3 respectively.

The Indian captain MS Dhoni will miss tomorrow's match against Sri Lanka after being banned for the second time during the series for his team's slow over-rate.
