Ronchi to return to New Zealand

6:05 am on 17 February 2012

The former Australian one-day wicketkeeper Luke Ronchi is set to return to New Zealand to further his career.

Reports in Western Australia say the New Zealand-born gloveman wants to return to New Zealand in a bid to return to international cricket.

The 30-year-old, who has played four ODIs for Australia, hasn't featured for the national team since a Twenty20 international against South Africa in 2009.

Ronchi, who is set to play for Western Australia in a Sheffield Shield match against NSW at the WACA Ground starting today, apparently told his team-mates the news at training on Thursday.

Ronchi, who has played 58 first-class matches and 86 one-day games for WA, would apparently be immediately available for New Zealand if he makes the switch.

The Dominion Post says Ronchi is in talks with Wellington Cricket to play for the Firebirds.
