Breakers extend ANBL lead

6:05 am on 17 February 2012

The New Zealand Breakers turned the tables on the Wollongong Hawks with a hard fought 82-74 victory over their bogey team last night in Auckland.

The Breakers forward Tom Abercrombie led all scorers with 25 points, including 12 in a decisive final quarter, when the home side finally pulled clear.

Wollongong had upset the Breakers by 16 points last Saturday.

For the moment the defending champions are two games clear at the top of the table, but second-placed Perth can reduce the lead to one game if they beat the Sydney Kings at home on Sunday.
